Faria/Southwest Hills Annexation Project

On Monday, February 22, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. the Pittsburg City Council will hold a special meeting to consider the “Faria/Southwest Hills” project which includes certification of an Environmental Impact Report, amendments to the General Plan and Pre-zoning for the site, as well as a development agreement and request to file an application for annexation in order to bring the land into the Pittsburg City Limits. Written comments that have been previously submitted are published on the City of Pittsburg’s website and have been provided to the council. FREE Flu Shot Clinic in Pittsburg

The City of Pittsburg has partnered with The Northern California Breathmobile
to host a FREE flu clinic ‪on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Library Community Room (‪80 Power Avenue, Pittsburg, CA 94565). Pittsburg Celebrates Black History Month with FREE Drive-in Movie

In honor of Black History Month, the City of Pittsburg’s Recreation Department will be hosting a FREE community drive-in movie night. The City of Pittsburg will be featuring the blockbuster Black Panther. The event will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot outside of Pittsburg’s City Hall, 65 Civic Avenue. For questions, please call 925-252-4842. Traffic Alert: Safety Improvements Happening on Pittsburg’s Roadways

Construction crews are working to make safety improvements to heavily trafficked roadways in Pittsburg. Since Monday, February 8th, crews have been on West Leland Road installing speed warning signs and centerline rumble strips. Commuters will also see high friction surface treatments, and striping on West Leland Road between Bailey and Railroad Avenue. In addition, there will be traffic signal modifications at Range Road and West Leland Road. Due to these improvements, there will be intermittent lane closures between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. All phases of this project are expected to be completed by Fall 2021.

Business Watch Program Returns to Pittsburg

The Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce and the Pittsburg Police Department have relaunched the Business Watch program. This program brings together business owners, law enforcement officials, policy makers, and subject matter experts to discuss important matters of the time, educate merchants and help find solutions to problems that local businesses face. Zoom Business Watch meetings will be held monthly on the third Thursday of the month at 1:30 p.m. For more information, visit https://www.mypittsburgchamber.org/

COVID-19 Youth Ambassador Program

The City of Pittsburg has partnered with Contra Costa Health Services to co-sponsor 20 youth and young adults between 15-24 years of age for a new paid ambassador program centered around raising awareness about COVID-19 and helping reduce the spread of the virus. The youth ambassadors will learn how to create focused messages about COVID-19 and once these messages are created, the ambassadors will be asked to use their social media platforms to share these messages with family, friends, and followers. In addition, this cohort of ambassadors will serve as spokespersons for the City of Pittsburg and Contra Costa Health Services. Ambassadors will receive a $525 stipend for successful completion of 35 hours of work. Training will also be provided. The deadline to apply for this program on March 1, 2021.
